Oceanwide Safety at Sea B.V.

Oceanwide Safety at Sea started in 2002 as a service company providing repair and maintenance services to all types of lifeboats. In 2003 the company acquired the original moulds, prototype certificates and all approval rights from “Mulder & Rijke” in the Netherlands. With the vast experience of the employees at the time, who all have worked for many years in this specialised business a new Hyberbaric Lifeboat was developed. The first SPHL was delivered in November 2003 to Comex in France, which was the start of a long-term commitment to the safety within the diving industry.

All lifeboats are build under MED and Solas and the SPHL's have a prototype approval by Det Norske Veritas (DNV). Furthermore, in May 2011 American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) approved the SPHL Hull 106, being a 9,5 meter SPHL for 12 divers.

For the service the company is certified by Germanischer Lloyd and Lloyds Register and is working according to the rules of “Lloyds Register Yacht and Small Craft Services, TECH. NOTE 531”. As of March 2011 the company is also certified for the ISO 9001:2008.

The company is owned by Rob Bunders and Klaas Kapteijn and provides work for nearly 30 employees. Whenever necessary the company can build on the extensive knowledge and experience within this specialised business of it’s external advisors.

Among the customers of Oceanwide SaS are well-know companies and end-users such as: Technip, NUT, Acergy, Subsea, Noordhoek, Wellops, Sealion, Toisa, McDermott, Hallin, Bibi, Qatar Petroleum, BP Nederland Energie, Gaz de France, Stolt Offshore etc.

Oceanwide Safety at Sea is fully certified to perform all obligatory inspections and maintenance on any type of Lifeboat. Its qualified and experienced engineers can do the inspections and maintenance both off- and on-shore according to the customer’s wishes. The engineers can do a full inspection and maintenance review, including the davits and hooks.

In case of a major repair, Oceanwide Safety at Sea has a 1200 m2 production facility and workshop in the heart of Rotterdam. The workshop is located at the Maashaven and a crane is available to lift a boat directly out of the water. Any major repair to a GRP boat can be performed by the qualified staff.
