Location: Headquarters (Covington, LA)

Description

I. SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

Oversees new vessel and major modification construction, with emphasis on contractual compliance, regulatory compliance and budget compliance. Works closely with clients, company, and Construction Superintendent (s), equipment vendors and shipyard management staff to deliver new construction vessels and major modification projects on time and within budget.

II. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP

Reports to Director of Engineering and Project Management. Supporting relationship to the Fleet/Operations and Maintenance and Repair.

III. AUTHORITY

As directed by Director of Engineering and Project Management. Executive and monetary approval authority to be granted on project basis.

IV. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises Construction Superintendents.

V. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities shall include, but shall not be limited to, the following:

· New Construction Design and Documentation Supervision:
Develop, review and approve specifications, drawings, plans, sketches and other
information pertaining to construction and commissioning of company new-build
vessels and major modification projects to ensure compliance by contracting
shipyards, consultants and vendors with company specifications, regulatory body
requirements, and vessel service functionalities. Integration and organization of
technical documentation, including distribution of knowledge and interface
management, shall be performed.

· New Construction and Major Modification Cost Accounting:
Project Manager shall develop project budget, review and evaluate shipyard and
vendor quotes and shall keep track of costs using Company’s project accounting
tools.

· Owner Furnished Equipment Supervision:
Review, recommend, and specify for purchase, company furnished equipment and
materials necessary for construction and operational outfitting of new construction
vessels.

· Fleet Integration:
Assimilation of technical documentation, certification and vessel system functions
toward training shore based and fleet employees in correct, safe and efficient
operation of company new building vessels following delivery to the company.
Integration of new building vessels into company safety management system,
including maintenance program and bridge management system integration.

· Fleet Technology:
Including but not limited to the perpetual review of allied or emerging technologies for
application to company vessel or operating systems as they inure to the benefit of
cost reduction or value enhancement for commercial activity of fleet operations.

Job functions shall be as required to fulfill the responsibilities of the position and are not otherwise limited. The nature of the responsibilities of the incumbent shall be such that some overlap with fleet operational and maintenance responsibilities may occur. In such circumstances, incumbent shall perform job functions as advised and directed by supervisor.

VI. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in technical discipline and equivalent industry experience of not less than ten (10) years.

Experience:

Ten (10) or more years in positions of increasing responsibility for the construction repair and operation of marine vessels. Familiarity with industry regulatory requirements and management systems essential.

Skills (Math, Language, Computer, etc):

Excellent oral and written communication skills required. Personal computer functional
skills for spread sheet and word processing applications desirable.
Certification: Valid driver’s license and passport required. USCG marine licenses for
deck or engine room watch standing responsibilities desired.

VII. HOURS OF WORK

Standard Hours: 0730 – 1700 Monday through Friday, excluding travel and overtime. Overtime Hours: Potential exists for extensive overtime as required by responsibilities and as directed by supervisor.

VIII. PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Eyesight: Functional, correctable to 20/20
Hearing: Functional, correctable to normal
Speech: Functional, without impediment
