We are seeking a postdoctoral Research Fellow to undertake research as part of an EPSRC multidisciplinary grant that will involve co-ordinating input from a number of different academic institutions. This position will sit in our Institute for Environment, Health, Risks and Futures and will play a key role in delivering the risk assessment research programme in the Institute.

You will undertake applied research of direct relevance to manufacturers, industry, policy makers and physical scientists. With a strong grasp of multidisciplinary risk issues, a background in toxicology and the hazard assessment of chemical agents including metals, you will employ new or existing tools to analyse risks within manufacturing systems considering the manufacture of safe and sustainable volatile elements and communicate the research outputs to audiences with varying levels of technical understanding.

As a clear, creative thinker of demonstrable numerate ability, you will be comfortable synthesising complex information and writing papers, proposals and reports.

A background in toxicology, risk assessment, production of timely, high quality industrial reports and assessment of materials is required, alongside an awareness of the research needs for industry within the UK.

You will have a PhD (or be close to completion) in a topic relevant to either: toxicology, environmental science, or risk analysis, with human health impact assessment, hazard assessment of chemical agents.

You will also have strong organisational, oral and written communication and presentation skills and good technical writing skills. You will be working in a multidisciplinary team, and will need to interact effectively with colleagues from a range of academic backgrounds.
