Agencias Continental, S.A.
In 1923, two Swedish seamen, Hans Elliot and Carl Janson, disembarked in Panama from the merchant vessel "America Land". They decided to search for business opportunities in Panama and began by running a cabotage service to move bananas from the Darien province to Panama City for the "Chiriqui Land Company".
During those times, the company specialized in operating and managing a bulk service between Panama, Colombia and USA. Conship, as it was then called, began representing shipping lines transiting the Panama Canal and using the ports at the Canal Zone (former U.S. name of the Panama Canal Area).
In 1953, after Continental Shipping was acquired by the Lince family, the company was renamed Agencias Continental, S.A. or "AGENCO".
Today, our company handles near 1,000 Panama Canal transits and port calls every year, approximately 150,000 teus of import/export and transhipment cargo, and attends regular passenger airline services.
