Electricians perform electrical installations, repairs, and upgrades on vessels. Many marine electricians wire new vessels at boat manufacturing facilities, other ship electricians operate independent electrical businesses.

During a typical week, an independent electrician might troubleshoot an electrical problem. Ship electrician work may also begin an electrical upgrade, and install new electronics aboard a large ship.
