The company places great emphasis on sustainable crewing focusing on the education and training of its officers and ratings and the company’s own in-house training simulator has proved an invaluable tool.
Interorient is a founding member of the Cyprus Shipping Chamber and has played a leading role in the emergence of Cyprus as a global shipping centre. Interorient is also a founding member of the Cyprus Marine Environment Protection Organisation (CYMEPA) as well as an active member of industry organisations such as BIMCO, Intertanko and Intercargo.

Crew Management
IMS is responsible for the crewing of a wide variety of vessel types. Subsidiary crewing offices located in Manila, St. Petersburg , Riga and an affiliate office in Odessa provide for the recruitment as well as training of our seafarers. The past decade has seen a remarkable growth in the world fleet and consequently sustainable crewing is one of the major challenges faced by the industry. Our focus on recruitment, training and retention of sea farers through an established local presence has helped IMS meet this challenge.
The company places great emphasis on the education and training of its officers and ratings with a dedicated Training Officer to monitor and coordinate training activities.
The comprehensive training programmes include an in-house Competence Development System (CDS). This training tool covers all vessel types in the fleet and is supplemented by an extensive library of computer based training material.
At its office in Riga, IMS has a full mission bridge simulator. In addition the simulator provides specialized training on navigating in ice areas.
With a focus on future needs IMS has an extensive Cadet programme in collaboration with the university of Cebu. The program has been successful in attracting talent from a number of countries such as Philippines, Ukraine and Russia.
