Mare Maritime India Pvt. Ltd.
Mare Maritime Company SA and its agents Global Maritime Services London have a 25 years history. The founder of this company, Mr. Emmanuel Papalexis, however, has been serving the shipping industry for many more years. Mr Papalexis and his team have been deeply involved with the shipping industry of Norway for many years. Mare Maritime have close association with Star Shipping,Westfal-Larsen and Ofdjell of Bergen, providing ship management services to these companies. Mare Maritime were also Ship owners in their own right when they became owners of 2 tankers, the MT Mare Princes and MT Mare Queen. The tankers were purchased with financing support from Den norske Bank Asia.
At almost same time, an association with Mobil Shipping was developed whereby they were given management of ULCCs, VLCCs, Chemical Tankers and other vessels. They provided 3rd party ship management services to Mobil Shipping for many years and were their preferred contractor. Later, this association was expanded to include Saudi Arabian interest with whom Mobil had a joint venture. Mare Maritime continue to have very good relationship with Ofdjell and Mobil Shipping till present day. The year 1992 was also the beginning of the company’s long association with Bank Indosuez of Paris and Chemical Bank. The banks appointed Mare Maritime as Asset Managers for their fleet of ships which includes ULCCs, VLCCS, VLOO and
smaller vessels. Mare Maritime successfully managed the fleet of ships for the banks under a profit sharing scheme until the eventual sale of the ships for profit.
In keeping with the signs of the times, it became obvious to Mare Maritime that shipping activities are moving to the Far East. Although we have close connection with the Far East for many years such as when we dry-dock our vessels in Singapore and when deploying staff in the Philippines, we never had any permanent representation. Noting that the bulk of shipping activities are moving east, we decided to turn our attention towards the Far East. We believe that our experience, our record and history can contribute to the development of shipping activities in the Far East countries. With all these thoughts, in May 2014, we established Mare Maritime Singapore.
