Star Lanka Shipping Company (pvt) Ltd., was incorporated in the year 2001 as a joint venture Shipping Agency Company. This was incorporated under the Laws in Sri Lanka which will permit the Shipping Line only to Hold 40% equity in the Agency and a local company must hold the 60% equity. Accordingly the Joint Venture Company was set up with Gold Star Line Ltd., owning the 40% equity.

In November 2006 Sri Lanka Shipping Company Ltd., acquired the 60% equity from it's original owner's and became the Joint Venture Partner of Star Lanka Shipping (pvt) Ltd.,Gold Star Line Ltd., has been operating in Sri Lanka since 1979. Zim Integrated Shipping Services Ltd., has been operating in Sri lanka since 1986. The company is involved in handling all aspects of Shipping Agency business in respect of ZIM Integrated Shipping Services Ltd., & Gold Star line Ltd.,The Company consists of forty very efficient and highly motivated staff who provide a verypersonalized service in respect of all aspects of the business. The staff is also very well experienced in handling all customers and provides quick solutions to all their requirements. Well trained and experienced Operational Staff also are committed to expedite the quick turn around and dispatch of all vessels calling under the Agency. The Company main core business is in the handling of Transshipment containers and we do handle big volumes of Import and Export Containers as well.

Star Lanka Shipping (pvt) Ltd., has fully automated systems in operation for very efficient handling of all aspects of Shipping Agency business. The company also handles the recruitment of Sri Lankan Sea Farers for the following companies:
