MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Daily monitoring of vessel performance and planned maintenance
Responsible for all technical related issues, including correspondence with vessel and direct instruction to ship’s staff
Ensure all procedures are adhered to and comply with International safety management (ISM), classification society rules, and Maritime insurance
Liaise directly with the Management, support vessel to respond to any charter or technical and operational questions
Revise, agree and monitor assigned budgets
Work closely with Deck & Operations Superintendents and provide technical advice to all other departments when requested
Review Inspection report or other inspection observations and deficiencies and work with the vessel and Deck Department to track them through to close out
Supervision of operations, including the monitoring of the vessel’s condition and ship’s staff compliance with management policies and safety
Briefing and debriefing and appraisal of engine staff, Chief Engineers and other senior officers on board assigned vessel.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Hold a related degree or internationally recognised shipping qualification (Chief Engineer preferred).
Previous experience in this role would be required, or the applicant would need to demonstrate their ability to do the job of Ship Technical Superintendent.
Ideally previously sailed at sea as Chief Engineer.
Able to handle difficult and sometimes stressful situations, along with the ability to negotiate and make both executive and technical decisions.
Clear communicator, both verbally and written.
