11 Hurt After Greek Ferry Hits Pier zoom Eleven passengers were injured after a RoPax ferry hit a pier in the Greek port of Igoumenitsa on Wednesday, the Hellenic Coast Guard reports. The ferry ANO HORA II was sailing on its regular route from Corfu to Igoumenitsa when it ran into the Pier No.1 at the Greek northwestern port for reasons that are still unknown. The injured passengers were taken to a local hospital, after which seven were transferred to a medical center in Filiaton, where two passengers remain hospitalized. The damage is visible on both the pier and the ferry, but there have been no signs of pollution so far. 187 passengers, 33 cars and 5 buses were on board the ferry at the time of the accident. One of the buses was also damaged in the hit. The vessel will be detained in the port until the authorities conduct the investigation. The 37-year-old captain of the ferry was arrested on Wednesday, but was subsequently released. World Maritime News Staff; Image: Shipspotting
