ACL to Shift Vessel Calls from Norfolk International Terminals
ACL US shipping company American Container Line (ACL) plans to relocate vessels from the Port of Virginias Norfolk International Terminals (NIT) to Portsmouth Marine Terminal (PMT), starting from late March 2017. The companys final vessel call at NIT will be Atlantic Conveyor, with an estimated time of arrival on March 21. Atlantic Sea is expected to inaugurate ACLs new service at PMT in late March. The Port of Virginia said that the acceptance of loaded export containers at PMT is governed by the early return date (ERD) for each vessel. In addition, non-containerized export cargo breakbulk, roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) is now being accepted at PMT for future export sailings. The change comes due to the improvements at NIT South that are scheduled to begin in July. Currently, the port is carrying out expansion and optimization projects at NIT and Virginia International Gateway (VIG).
