Acorus Banned from Paris MoU Region for the 2nd Time

Paris MOU The Paris MoU organization detained a general cargo vessel in Piraeus, Greece, on November 10. As explained, the 5,400 dwt Acorus was arrested during a re-inspection for lifting the refusal of access order which was imposed on July 11, 2017. The ship flies the flag of Moldova, which is black on the current Paris MoU White, Gray and Black (WGB) list. The 1990-built singledecker has been banned for the second time in 36 months by Greece from the Paris MoU region. Acorus will be refused further access to any port and anchorage in the region, except a port and anchorage of the ship’s flag state. This refusal of access will become applicable immediately after the ship is authorized to leave this port and anchorage, the organization said. As this is the second refusal of access order for the vessel, the period of the refusal of access will be 12 months, according to Paris MoU. The Paris MoU organization consists of 27 participating maritime administrations and covers the waters of the European coastal states and the North Atlantic basin from North America to Europe.
