AFM Rescues Migrants off Malta, Some Reported Missing
zoomImage for illustrative purposes only The Armed Forces of Malta Rescue Coordination Centre has saved around 80 migrants, mostly adults, from a dinghy in Maltese territorial waters. The migrants were in distress, and considering inclement weather conditions, AFM decided to proceed with the rescue operation East of Malta. According to The Malta Independent, the rescued migrants said that more people originally boarded the dinghy, but the exact number of those missing, presumed dead, is unknown. AFM is currently disembarking the migrants at Haywharf Base in Floriana. The rescue teams are reportedly wearing Ebola-protective suits.
