Blue Water Secures USD 154 Mn Contract in Kazakhstan

Blue Water Shipping A consortium led by the Denmark-based Blue Water Shipping won a USD 154 million contract with Tengizchevroil (TCO) to supply transport and logistics services.  The consortium, led by Blue Water Shipping in partnership with Kazakhstan-based shipping company Kazmortransflot (KMTF), will be responsible for transporting 75 modules and cargo weighing up to 1,600 tons on the Caspian Sea from Kuryk to the port of Prorva, located near the Tengiz oil field in Kazakhstan. Blue Water will be responsible for transportation and project management, while KMTF will supply and operate three specially designed Module Carrying Vessels (MCVs). The vessels are to be built by Norwegian shipbuilder and ship designer Vard at Vard Braila in Romania. On August 18, the shipbuilder signed a USD 70 million contract for the design and construction of the vessels with KMTF. The three MCVs, featuring a length of 113 meters and a width of 22 meters, will be delivered in the period between the third quarter of 2017 and the first quarter of 2018. Earlier this year, Blue Water announced another major contract, which is related to the TCO FGP-WPMP project and valued at USD 350 million.
