Capesize Bulker Seattle Joins Dianas Fleet

zoom Athens-based dry bulk shipping company Diana Shipping Inc. has, through a separate wholly-owned subsidiary, taken delivery of the 179,362 dwt Capesize dry bulk vessel m/v Seattle. The company signed the USD 28.5 million purchase agreement for this vessel, formerly known as m/v Churchill Bulker, in November 2015. Including the newly delivered m/v Seattle, Diana Shippings fleet currently consists of 43 dry bulk vessels. The company also expects to take delivery of one new-building Newcastlemax dry bulk vessel during the second quarter of 2016, as well as one newbuilding Kamsarmax dry bulk vessel and one newbuilding Newcastlemax dry bulk vessel during the third quarter of 2016. As of today, the combined carrying capacity of the company’s fleet, excluding the three vessels not yet delivered, is approximately 5 million dwt with a weighted average age of 7.2 years.
