Car Carrier, DFDS Ferry Clash in Humber Approaches

Nissan Car Carrier Panamanian-flagged car carrier City of Rotterdam has sustained severe damage in its portside bow following a collision with a DFDS-owned ferry Primula Seaways on December 3 in the Humber Estuary. The ferry is also reported to have been considerably damaged in the crash. No injuries have been reported. The 2011-built car carrier, operated by Nissan Car Carrier, managed to reach Immingham under its own power where it remains moored, based on its latest AIS data. The RoRo Primula Seaways was also able to reach Immingham and has been cleared for continuation of its voyage as tracking data shows that it has left the port and is underway in North Sea bound for Tees, UK where it is scheduled to arrive later today. UK Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) said on Sunday that it had deployed inspectors to the collision between the ro-ro cargo vessel and the car carrier in the approaches to the Humber.
