Cargo Ship Runs Aground off Norfolk Coast

Shipspotting The general cargo vessel Muros ran aground some 8 miles off the Norfolk Coast, near Happisburgh Sands, in the morning hours of December 3, according to UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency. Following the incident, the authorities informed that the integrity of the Spain-flagged vessel is sound and that there is no need for concern but we are monitoring the situation closely. At the time of the grounding, the 89-metre-long cargo ship was crewed by nine people. There were no injuries reported to the crew. At this stage the vessel’s master is seeking to get assistance from a tug to refloat the vessel, Maritime and Coastguard Agency earlier said. According to AIS data provided by MarineTraffic, Muros was on its way from UKs port of Tees to Port of Rochefort, France, when it ran into trouble. Image Courtesy: Shipspotting
