Carnivals Cruise Ship Hits Dock in Baltimore

Carnival Cruise Line Carnivals cruise ship Carnival Pride collided with an elevated gangway on the pier at the Port of Baltimore while docking on May 8, causing part of the gangway to fall and damage three parked vehicles. The gangway was not in use at the time and the vehicles were empty, according to Carnival Cruise Line spokesperson. No injuries were reported on board the ship, the gangway, or on the pier. Carnival Cruise Line says the damage to the ship is minor and limited to a small mooring deck platform on the starboard side. Personnel from Coast Guard Sector Maryland National Capital Region are investigating the incident, U.S. Coast Guard District 5 office told World Maritime News. The cruise ship sailed on Sunday evening as scheduled on its next voyage, according to Port of Baltimore Authority. The embarkation occurred via one of the crew gangways at pier level. Carnival Pride features a length of 294 meters and a width of 32 meters and is able to accommodate more than 2,000 passengers. World Maritime News Staff
