Crane Collapses at Sembcorp Shipyard, Damages Rig
Sembcorp Marine A crane collapse at the Sembcorp Marine Jurong shipyard in Singapore caused damage to a jackup rig under construction on February 28. According to the vessels owner, the offshore drilling company Noble Corporation, there were reports of minor injuries to some shipyard personnel. The new rig Noble Lloyd Noble, currently in its late stages of construction, has suffered damages to at least one of its areas, as well as damages to one of the vessels cranes. An investigation into the cause of the collapse has been launched by the Singapore Ministry of Manpower. Noble said that access to the rig is limited during the initial phase of the investigation.
