Crude Oil Spills into Lake Grande Ecaille NOAA The United States Coast Guard and other agencies continued responding to a crude oil spill on July 26, that was reportedly discharged from an abandoned flow line near Lake Grande Ecaille, Louisiana. An estimated 4,200 gallons of crude oil was released from the pipeline which belongs to Hilcorp Energy, according to information provided by the USCG. Environmental Safety and Health, an oil spill response organization contracted by Hilcorp Energy, has deployed approximately 2,400 feet of hard containment boom to prevent further impact to the area, while skimmers and airboats were utilized in the recovery efforts. The USCG added that aircrews from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans and Hilcorp Energy will continue to conduct over-flights to monitor oil recovery operations.
