dAmico Scraps Two Newbuilding Orders
d'Amico Dry bulk shipping company dAmico Dry, a subsidiary of Italian dAmico Group, has decided to cancel two more vessels which were on order with Chinas Yangfan shipyard. During 2015 the fifth and sixth newbuilding of a series of six vessels ordered at the shipyard were already switched in new orders for two containerships of 2,250 TEU capacity, dAmico told World Maritime News in an emailed statement. However, in January 2016 dAmico Dry decided to cancel the order in accordance with Yangfan that refunded all the installments, due to the shipbuilders inability to deliver the ships on time. According to the company, the move follows another cancellation as dAmico refused to take delivery of a Supramax bulk carrier, under construction at Yangfan shipyard, due to delay in delivery.
