Detained Cargo Ship Cleared to Leave Alaska

zoom The Liberian-flagged cargo ship MS Lindavia has been cleared to leave Alaska after being detained for two weeks in Dutch Harbor, writes the Associated Press (AP). The Coast Guard detained the ship on February 12th under suspicion that the ship and its crew had been involved in environmental crimes.  Lindavia entered Dutch Harbor to pick up fish for delivery to Asia. As informed, the ships owner and operator entered into a security agreement and posted a bond Thursday to enable to ship to leave the Alaskan harbor, the AP quoted Assistant U.S. Attorney Kevin Feldis as saying. In addition, as part of the security agreement, a portion of the 20 members of crew will remain in Alaska while the investigation continues, Feldis added.
