Diesel Fuel Spills from Towing Vessel near Port Isabel

USCG Some 20,000 gallons of low sulfur diesel fuel were released into the Intracoastal Waterway near Port Isabel, Texas, after a towing vessel allided with a dock, according to the United States Coast Guard (USCG). Namely, the spill was reported in the late evening hours on October 11 when the uninspected towing vessel Capt. Jim Green hit a dock at the facility of Subsea 7, a subsea engineering, construction and services company. The USCG said that the source of the spill was secured and that there were no reported impacts to wildlife. The oil spill response organization Miller Environmental was conducting air monitoring and oil recovery operations. The Coast Guard is conducting an over flight with pollution responders to get an accurate assessment of the impact to the waterway and surrounding areas. Relevant authorities launched an investigation into the cause of the incident.
