DP World Australia Gets A3 Consortiums Shipping Services DP World Australia Australia’s largest stevedore, DP World Australia, has been awarded seven of nine port calls on the A3 consortium’s Asia to Australia service, which links the east coast Australia ports of Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne with Asia. The additional services from the A3 consortium, which comprises Hong Kong-based container carrier Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL), Australias ANL, and Chinese COSCO Container Lines, are expected to bring up to an additional 100,000 containers through DP World Australia per annum. Under the new contract, DP World Australia will stevedore vessels calling on the Northern Loop – Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane; the Central Loop – Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane; and the Southern Loop – Melbourne, which will begin late October and early November 2016. The success of the A3 tender is a major win for DP World Australia in a very competitive marketplace, and was the first tender to go to a market with three competitors bidding in all three east coast ports — Brisbane, Sydney and now Melbourne, Managing Director and CEO, Paul Scurrah, said. The A3 contract follows the return of Swire Shipping’s Papua New Guinea and Pacific Islands service to DP World Australia’s Brisbane and Sydney terminals.
