DP World Joins Maldives Port Development Project

zoom Dubai-headquartered marine terminal operator DP World has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Maldivian government officials for the development of the archipelagos ports and logistics industry. The meeting was attended by a Maldivian government delegation including Minister of Tourism Ahmed Adeeb, Minister of Economic Development Mohamed Saeed and Minister of Youth and Sports Mohamed Maleeh Jamal, and DP World Chairman HE Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem with other company officials. The Maldives has been growing rapidly, driven largely by its tourism development. We are working with them to help diversify the economy through building infrastructure, logistics and transport links needed to make this happen, DP World Chairman HE Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem said. The MoU comes days after DP World announced USD 675 million net profit in 2014, and completed the acquisition of Economic Zones World FZE, the owner of the Jebel Ali Free Zone.
