Drillship Duo Delivery Delayed at DSME

DSME South Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding and Maritime Engineering (DSME) has agreed with an undisclosed owner to delay delivery of two drillships. The agreement was made on the request of an unnamed American buyer. The duo was ordered in 2013 and was supposed to be delivered by the end of last year. In line with the new terms, the two newbuilds are scheduled to be delivered in April 2018 and January 2019, respectively. The order is priced at KRW 1.25 trillion  (USD 1.04 billion), DSME said in a stock exchange filing. The additional costs of the delivery delays will be compensated by the owner. Korean shipbuilders have been facing numerous delivery delays and even order cancellations prompted by turbulent times in the offshore and shipping industry. World Maritime News Staff
