Egypt Picks 7 Companies to Deliver 55 LNG Cargoes

zoom Egypt has chosen to buy 55 cargoes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from seven out of twelve companies which vied for the tender, Egypts Ministry of Shipping announced on Monday. The tender originally invited bids for 45 cargoes of LNG. Tariq Al-Mullah, Egypts Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, received a report from Khalid Al Badi, Head of the Egyptian Holding Company for Natural Gas (EGAS), stating that the 55 cargoes of LNG are scheduled for delivery between November 2015 and December 2016. The statement, however, did not disclose the names of the winners of the tender, but Reuters cited a source close to the matter as saying that the seven tender winners are Trafigura, Vitol, Noble Group, EDF Trading , Gas Natural, PetroChina and Shell. The 55 cargoes will be delivered to the countrys second Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) stationed in the port of Ain Sokhna, BW Singapore, which was delivered in late September and has the capacity to handle 600 to 700 million cubic feet of LNG per day. BW Singapore, owned and operated by Norwegian BW Gas, is scheduled to start operations in the third week of October. World Maritime News Staff
