Egypt Selects Winners of Its USD 2.2 Bln LNG Tender

zoom Egypt has selected the winners of its USD 2.2 billion tender for delivery of 75 cargoes of liquefied natural gas (LNG), Reuters reported.  According to Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS),  four international companies out of seven bidders have been selected for the job. The names of the companies remained undisclosed. The four companies will supply four cargoes a month over about two years, Reuters cited Khaled Abdel Badie from EGAS as saying. The country is about to get its first LNG receiving terminal, being built by Norway’s Hoegh LNG. The terminal should be up and running by the end of March enabling Egypt to start importing LNG. Egypt revealed plans to conclude an agreement with Russia’s Gazprom for the company to supply it with LNG shipments later this month. The two parties signed an agreement in principle in April on the supply of seven LNG shipments. Egypt has already signed a deal with Algeria in December for delivery of six LNG cargoes.
