Egypt to Place 2nd Floating LNG Terminal in Adabiya Port

The country expects to receive the second terminal in August this year and is already in talks with several companies on the supply of the gasification ship. The ship is expected to have a capacity of producing 42 liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipments on an annual basis, and the single shipment volume capacity ranging between 140,000-170,000 cubic feet, Daily News Egypt informed citing an official from Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS). The floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) was initially intended to be located in Ain Sokhna, where Hoegh Gallant, Egypt’s first LNG import terminal, with the capacity of 170, 051 cubic metres, has been stationed. However, due to security concerns, EGAS is exploring the possibility of placing the terminal in Adabiya port. After a study of the location, a committee from the company agreed that the port can be prepared within a period of three to six months so that it can receive the second gasification ship, the Egyptian daily reports.
