Fire aboard Freedom of the Seas

zoom A fire broke out in a mechanical space on board Royal Caribbeans cruise ship Freedom of the Seas on Wednesday, as it was about to enter Falmouth, Jamaica. As informed, the fire was contained and  extinguished shortly after and one crew member was treated for a first-degree burn, Royal Caribbean said. All guests onboard Freedom of the Seas have been accounted for and there are no reported injuries to any guests, the company said in a statement. According to Royal Caribbean, Freedom of the Seas is alongside in Falmouth, Jamaica, as scheduled, and all systems are functioning. Since 1pm, the cruise ship guests were able to leave the ship to enjoy Falmouth, Jamaica, the cruise liner said. The company added that the fire would not impact the ships regular scheduled itinerary and that the next stop was George Town, Grand Cayman, today. MS Freedom of the Seas can accommodate 3,634 passengers and 1,300 crew on fifteen passenger decks.
