Four Port Operators Remain in Race for Corozal Port

Panama Canal Four port operators were pre-qualified during the Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for companies interested in competing to design, develop, finance, construct, operate and maintain the Corozal Container Terminal. The four pre-qualified companies were the Dutch APM Terminals, Frances Terminal Link, Singapore-based PSA International, and the Netherlands Terminal Investment Limited. The result of this process demonstrates the potential of Corozal Port and especially the confidence of the leading port operators in the world, Panama Canal Administrator Jorge L. Quijano said. The new Corozal Port is among the most advanced synergistic business initiatives, providing new products and services to customers in the maritime industry. The new port is certain to enhance the Canal’s offering and revenue base. The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) received documentation from seven companies interested in the pre-qualification for Corozal Container Terminal by March 11, 2016, the RFQ closing date. In addition to pre-qualified companies, Japanese Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Panamas Manzanillo International Terminal, and Ports America Terminal Holdings II also participated in the process.
