Freighter Catches Fire off Aberdeen zoom The Bahamian-flagged general cargo ship Celtica Hav had to return to Scotlands Aberdeen Harbour after the crew detected smoke emanating from the ships cargo hold, shortly after the vessels departure to Hamburg on Thursday evening, local media reports. The crew alerted the local authorities, who instructed the vessel to return to to Aberdeen, where fire fighting crews were waiting to assist the 1994-built freighter. The fire fighters also returned on Friday morning. Celtica Hav was reportedly carrying a load of barley grains when the incident occurred. There have been no injuries or pollution reported thus far. The 2,305 dwt Celtica Hav is owned and operated by the Norwegian shipping company Hav Ship Management. World Maritime News Staff; Image: Shipspotting
