Gondan Shipyard to Build New Vessel for Marine Research Institute of Norway
The substitute of the present oceanographic vessel “Dr. Fridtjof Nansen”, designed by the Norwegian firm Skipsteknisk AS, will have dimensions of 74,5 m length overall and 17,40 m breadth.
The new vessel will perform, among others, oceanographic and hydrographic functions, marine biology, biomass analysis, geology, etc. Moreover she will be able to launch and recover buoys for data collection, ROV and AUV operations, as well as logistic and cargo handling operations, without forgetting the student training in other countries.
The vessel is intended to operate in joint missions with scientific institutions of developing countries.
