GPAs Volumes on the Rise

Georgia Ports Authority The Georgia Ports Authority witnessed an increase in its volumes for the calendar year through July, which were up by 10.8 percent. GPA moved 2.33 million twenty-foot equivalent container units so far, handling an additional 230,000 TEUs. Total tonnage crossing GPA docks grew by 13 percent, or 2.37 million tons, to reach 20.67 million tons. Georgias renewed investments, strong support from Gov. Nathan Deal and state leaders, and superior logistics are encouraging customers to bring more business here, Griff Lynch, GPA Executive Director, said. In July alone, breakbulk cargo grew by 12.3 percent for a total of 232,390 tons- part of strong performances in Savannah and Brunswick for bulk and breakbulk commodities. The Port of Savannah marked its busiest July ever, handling more than 336,000 TEUs, for a 6.8 percent (21,385-TEU) increase.
