Greek Towage Crews Joining Strike on Thursday
Container Terminal in the Port of Piraeus Crews from towage companies in all Greek ports will join workers belonging to Greek public and private sector unions in a 24-hour general strike on Thursday, 27 November, ISS Greece informed. The strike will be staged from 06:00 on Thursday, November 27 to 06:00hrs Lt on Friday, 28 November. No vessels movements will be effected at any terminals within Piraeus, Eleusis, Pachi-Megara and Thessaloniki, according to the announcement. The strike comes in the wake of announced redundancies in the public sector and a potential wave of new wage cuts. The nationwide seamens confederation PNO and the Bar Association of Athens (DSA) have also announced that they will participate in the strike on Thursday, ANSA wire service reported.
