Hamburg Creates Space for Mega-Ships HHM / Dietmar Hasenpusch The Hamburg Port Authority (HPA) has completed deepening of the Vorhafen entry, creating more space for large containerships as well as for cruise ships.  The project has enabled big ships to maneuver in Tollerort region, according to the HPA. In addition, it raised the width restriction for cruise ships from 32.3 meters to 40 meters. In the words of Jens Meier, Chief Executive Officer of the HPA, with the deepened Vorhafen entry, ship traffic is now more efficient, safer and can be planned.
