Havyard to Build Three Electric Ferries for Fjord1 Multi Maritime Norwegian transport conglomerate Fjord1 is looking to expand its fleet as it ordered three electric ferries from its compatriot shipbuilder Havyard Ship Technology in Leirvik. Havyard Ship Technology said that the work and construction of these ferries starts immediately, and the first vessel is due to be delivered in the middle of May 2018. The companys remaining two electric ferries are scheduled for delivery towards the end of 2018. Hull constructions are taking place elsewhere, and the first hull will be ready for outfitting in Leirvik at the end of 2017. The contract has a value of close to NOK 500 million (USD 57.4 million). Designed by Multi Maritime in Førde, the new ferries would strengthen the national maritime position of western Norways Sogn and Fjordane county.
