Higher Charter Rate for Diana Shippings Panamax Diana Shipping Athens-based dry bulk vessel owner Diana Shipping has entered into a time charter contract with Hudson Shipping Lines Incorporated for one of its Panamax dry bulk carriers, Alcyon. As informed, the gross charter rate is USD 8,800 per day for a period of minimum twelve to maximum fifteen months. The charter is expected to commence on July 21, 2017. The 75,247 dwt Alcyon is currently chartered to Dampskibsselskabet Norden A/S at a lower gross charter rate of USD 5,000 per day. The Bahamas-flagged bulker was built at South Korean Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries shipyard in 2001. The employment of the ship is anticipated to generate approximately USD 3.17 million of gross revenue for the minimum scheduled period of the time charter, Diana Shipping said. Diana Shipping’s fleet is currently comprised of 51 dry bulk vessels. As of today, the combined carrying capacity of the company’s fleet is approximately 5.9 million dwt with a weighted average age of 7.95 years.
