Hundreds Feared Dead as Boat Sinks off Libya
Image for illustrative purposes onlyLibyan navy spokesperson reported that out of approximately 250 people estimated to have been aboard the boat that sunk off Tajoura, 26 have been rescued thus far.
There are so many dead bodies floating in the sea, the Libyan navy spokesperson said.
The immigrants on the capsized boat were mostly Africans, among them women.
Libyas coast guard, severely under-equipped, has very little resources to search for survivors, relying on fishing boats and tugs it borrows from the oil ministry.
Similar accident took more than 100 lives of African immigrants in August this year.
