Hunter Maritime Acquisition Buys First Bulkers

Diana Shipping The Marshall Islands-based Hunter Maritime Acquisition, a company established in 2016 by Belgiums Saverys family to acquire a drybulk shipping firm, has purchased four Capesize bulk carriers from Chinese sellers, VesselsValues data shows.  The ships in question are Wish Star, Valley Star, Super Star and Moritz Oldendorff, all of them built by Chinese shipbuilder Qingdao Yangfan between 2013 and 2015. The first two vessels were bought from Hong Xiang Shipping, the third bulker from China Development Bank and the fourth one from an unknown party. The 205,000 dwt bulkers were purchased for USD 115.5 million. Each of the four 107,162 gross ton ships features a length of 300 meters and a width of 50 meters. The newly acquired vessels are the first in the companys fleet, according to information provided by VesselsValue. In October 2016, Hunter Maritime Acquisition filed for initial public offer (IPO) of up to USD 150 million, according to Nasdaq. World Maritime News Staff
