Hyundai Heavy Lands Gazproms Floating Plant Tender

zoom South Koreas Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) has won a USD 295 million Gazprom Flot tender to construct a floating regasification plant for the planned Kaliningrad LNG terminal on Russias Baltic coast, Gazprom reports. HHI was chosen over other two of South Koreas shipbuilding heavyweights: Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, and Samsung Heavy Industries. The vessel will be linked to the terminal via a 3.5 kilometer pipeline running along the southern end of the Curonian Spit. The Kaliningrad regasification terminal is planned to receive its first LNG by the end of 2017. Once operational, the terminal will have the capacity of 9 million cubic meters of gas per day. Gazprom plans to initially import LNG, which will subsequently be procured from the Baltic LNG project. The Phase 1 of the Baltic LNG project is planned for commissioning in late 2018.
