Hyundai Mipo Cuts Steel for KSS Lines LPG Carrier

zoom Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Mipo Dockyard has today cut steel for a 38,000 cbm class LPG carrier ordered by KSS Line, a compatriot LPG and chemical shipping company. The ship will be classified by Korean Register of Shipping (KR) and is slated for delivery in February 2017. KSS Line has two more LPG/ammonia carriers under construction at Hyundai Mipo and one at Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI). Hyundai Mipo is building one more 38,000 cbm LPG carrier for KSS Line, scheduled for delivery in 2017, and a 84,000 cbm LPG carrier, due for delivery in 2016. The latter is assigned on a seven-year-plus time-charter with Japanese trader Itochu. Earlier this month, KSS Line increased its order book to five units, by ordering an 84,000 cbm very large gas carrier (VLGC) from HHI. With these five newbuilds, KSS Line will own and operate a fleet of 17 gas carriers, 6 chemical, and 4 LNG carriers. World Maritime News Staff
