Hyundai Mipo Nabs Product Tanker Trio HMD South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD) has sealed a contract for the construction of three petrochemical product tankers. The deal is worth KRW 114.7 billion (USD 105.5 million), the shipbuilder said in a regulatory filing. The order has been placed by a European shipowner, the identity of which was not disclosed. The vessels are slated for delivery in 2019. HMDs recent sales have reached USD 3.8 billion, according to the companys data. In August, HMD announced that it closed one of its dockyards temporarily amid work shortage. Full operation is expected to resume in December when construction on a RORO ship is scheduled to commence, the Korean daily Pulse reported citing a company official. In the same month, Hyundai Mipo secured an order for the construction of four bulk carriers from Bahri worth USD 120 million. The bulkers are scheduled for delivery during the first half of 2020.
