Hyundai Mipo Strikes Again

zoom South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Mipo Dockyard has won an order for two Roll-on/Roll-off (RORO) ships, worth a total of USD 186.5 million. The ships have been ordered by an undisclosed European shipowner, Hyundai Mipo said in a stock exchange filing. Under the contract, HMD is scheduled to complete and deliver the duo by December 31st, 2017. Further details on the ships capacity and the ship owner have not been revealed. The Korean shipbuilder has been busy in attracting new orders and the invested efforts have proved to be successful as this is the second order in two days disclosed by the shipyard. As World Maritime News reported yesterday, the shipyard bagged an order for the construction of three gas carriers worth a total of USD 140 million, also from an unnamed European shipping company. The batch includes construction of two liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) carriers and one liquefied ethylene gas (LEG) carrier, also slated for delivery in 2017. The shipyard’s current orderbook stands at KRW 3.97 trillion (USD 3.38 billion). World Maritime News Staff
