ICTSI Returns to Kalmar

zoom Philippine-based container terminal owner and operator International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI) has returned to port automation solutions provider Kalmar for eight additional automatic stacking cranes and related automation for its new Victoria International Container Terminal (VICT) in Melbourne, Australia. The equipment is scheduled for delivery in the final quarter of 2016.

Kalmars new delivery will be part of Phase 2 of VICTs automated container terminal project at Webb Dock East. For Phase 1 of the greenfield project, scheduled to be in operation by end-2016, Kalmar is providing 12 ASCs, 11 AutoShuttles, Kalmar Automated Truck Handling, integrated with Kalmar terminal logistic system and the terminal operating system provided by Navis, part of Cargotec.

Olli Isotalo, President of Kalmar, said: Together, the Kalmar and Navis delivery represents a fully automated turnkey solution for VICT. All the automation system components are configured together to support targeted terminal performance. We are pleased to have received this further order from ICTSI for their terminal which will represent the latest technology in automated container handling. VICTs Phase 2 is planned to be operational by December 2017. Fully built, the terminals annual capacity would be at least 1.4 million TEUs.

ICTSI also reported that its subsidiary, Subic Bay International Terminal Corporation (SBITC), recently received and commissioned three new reach stackers and 16 new Kalmar Ottawa terminal tractors. The additional capacity has increased the terminal tractor fleet to 23 units or 128 percent. The reach stacker fleet increased by 100 percent. SBITC operates the New Container Terminal 1 and 2 (NCT 1 & 2) at the Subic Bay Freeport, the Philippines.
