Irish Fast Ferry Blown Into Dock in Holyhead

zoom A fast ferry carrying 650 passengers and crew slammed into a dock in Irelands Port of Holyhead on Tuesday morning local time, after gale-force winds blew the vessel back into its berth, according to local media. All of the passengers aboard the Jonathan Swift, operated by Irish Ferries, disembarked in Holyhead with no reported injuries, and were transferred to a replacement service. The Jonathan Swift was trying to set sail to Dublin just before noon local time, when heavy gusts of wind blew it into the dock. Irish ferries cancelled three planned Swift services after the incident. The inspection crew are currently checking the ferrys aluminium hull for damages.
