Korea: Bodies of Two Missing from Sunken Fishing Boat Found

Youtube screenshot Korean coast guard discovered the bodies of the remaining two people who were reported missing after the fishing boat Seonchang-1 capsized off Incheon, South Korea on December 3. Yonhap News Agency cited the coast guard as saying that the captain of the fishing vessel was found some 3 kilometers southwest of the accident site, while a rescue helicopter discovered the last remaining missing person at sea about 2.2 km southwest of where the accident happened. The fishing vessel sank at around 6 am local time after it collided with a 336-ton tanker, the Myeongjin-15. The tankers captain, who had been steering the ship at the time of the accident, and another crew member were arrested on charges of professional negligence resulting in death. At the time of the incident, there were crew members and 20 passengers aboard the fishing vessel. Search and rescue teams earlier rescued seven people, who were taken to a hospital for treatment, and recovered the bodies of thirteen people. An investigation into the circumstances which led to the incident is ongoing. World Maritime News Staff
