Limassol Port Workers Resume Cargo Operations

zoomLimassol port, Cyprus Piled containers at the Limassol port, Cyprus have started moving as protesting workers resume loading activities, according to the Cyprus Mail. The port workers announced an indefinite strike on Tuesday asking from the government for more workers to be employed. Workers have also raised their concerns about the announced privatization of the ports services. However, the following day the workers started to move sensitive cargo, like fruit, vegetable, and frozen foods as they faced pressure from business groups. Normal operations resumed today and they should last until Friday, when workers are expected to meet with Transport Minister Marios Demetriades to discuss the issue at hand.
