Maersk Bolsters North East Asia New Zealand Coverage

Maersk Line Danish container shipping firm Maersk Line is upgrading its existing Triple Star service to provide direct, weekly connections between North East Asian ports and New Zealand. Starting from July 2016, the new service will offer a 14-day transit time between Hong Kong and Tauranga. It will include seven direct port calls across North East Asia and two in New Zealand. The port rotation is as follows: Yokohama (Japan), Busan (South Korea), Shangai (China), Ningbo (China), Kaohsiung (Taiwan), Chiwan (China), Hong Kong (China), Tauranga (New Zealand), Auckland (New Zealand).

The announcement of the new service coincided with the news that the port has ordered eight diesel-electric straddle carriers from the Finnish port automation solutions provider Kalmar.
