Maersk Genoa Collides with Freighter in the Netherlands Shipspotting Maersk Genoa, a containership operated by Danish shipping giant Maersk Line, collided with a freighter named Dan Fighter in the Westerschelde estuary on April 4, Dutch news agency HVZeeland reports. Based on the report, the freighter made contact with the stern of Maersk Genoa. Following the collision, the 10,000 TEU boxship is said to have suffered a breach at the stern above the waterline. It remains unknown whether the other ship was damaged. No pollution and no loss of containers have been reported. An investigation into the cause of the collision has been launched. World Maritime News sought a comment on the incident from Maersk Line, however, the company did not reply by the time of the publication of this article.
